Madulce Station Retrospective
Sometimes it is good to pause for historical perspective and consider what existed in the past and what has been lost. From the late 1970s through 1988 I traveled through Madulce Station many times. It was a unique location in the Los Padres as I think these pictures will amply demonstrate. The photographs in this set were taken in 1983.

This is a view of the sleeping quarters in Madulce Cabin. The cots are a fine example of the old wood and canvas military style. I used such cots for ages and in my opinion they were as comfortable as any bed. Learning to deploy one quickly was like learning to light a Svea 123 with one match: it showed you were on the team.
